About the PTDF Scholarship
The PTDF, a Federal Government agency, is dedicated to
building indigenous human capacity, research, and technology development for
the oil and gas industry. Through its Overseas Scholarship Scheme, PTDF
provides qualified Nigerians the opportunity to access top-tier education
abroad and domestically.
Successful candidates will enjoy a comprehensive scholarship
package, including:

of tuition and bench fees (where applicable)

and accommodation allowances
Important Information for Applicants
- The
scholarship is for the 2025/26 academic session.
- Applicants
must apply to PTDF-approved courses at partner institutions
only.
- Programs
must be relevant to the oil and gas industry and related to
previous academic backgrounds.
- Multiple
applications or applications to non-approved programs will lead
to automatic disqualification.
- Previous
PTDF scholarship recipients (for the same or lower academic category) and
recipients of similar scholarships are not eligible.

1. Strategic Overseas Partnerships
The scholarship covers Master's and PhD programs at top
universities in:
- United
Kingdom (18 partner universities)
- Germany
(all public universities)
- France
- Malaysia

2. Split-Site UK PhD Programs
Starting 2025, all PhD scholarships to the UK will be
awarded under a Split-site model, allowing scholars to:
- Conduct
part of their research in Nigeria at College of Petroleum and Energy
Studies, Kaduna (CPESK).
- Complete
the remaining part at a partner university in the UK.

3. College of Petroleum and Energy Studies, Kaduna
(CPESK)
CPESK is a world-class Nigerian institution established to domesticate high-quality postgraduate studies and research relevant to Nigeria's energy sector.
Selection Process and Criteria
Selection for the PTDF scholarship is highly competitive.
Only the most outstanding candidates from each state will be shortlisted and
invited for an interview. Selection will be based on:
- Academic
merit (quality of degrees, full transcripts, and professional
qualifications)
- Relevant
publications (PhD applicants only)
- Membership
of professional bodies
- Relevance
of proposed study or research to the oil and gas industry
- Quality and viability of the research or study plan
Application Requirements
For MSc Applicants:
- Minimum
of Second Class Upper (2.1) or Second Class Lower (2.2) with
relevant industry experience.
- Completion
of NYSC.
- Computer
literacy.
- 5
O/level credits including English and Mathematics.
- Verified
National Identity Number (NIN).
- A 500-word
Statement of Purpose explaining the relevance of your proposed study.
For PhD Applicants:
- Completion
of NYSC.
- Computer
literacy.
- 5
O/level credits including English and Mathematics.
- Minimum
of Second Class Lower (2.2) in First Degree and a good postgraduate
degree.
- A five-page
Research Proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry.
- Verified
National Identity Number (NIN).

- O’Level
results (WAEC/NECO/GCE/SSCE) with verification PINs
- Recent

Shortlisted candidates must prepare their academic
transcripts for the interview stage.
